Plantation Tour by Bicycle

New Orleans Plantation Tours: Bike to Destrehan Plantation (in Destrehan, Louisiana). Ride on the paved levee bicycle path with the mighty Mississippi River on your left and historic River Road on your right. Tour Destrehan Plantation, a 1790 Creole plantation beautifully restored with period furnishings, outdoor kitchen, slave cabins and other out buildings.

2-day Self-Guided Plantation Tour by Bike

FULL DAY - 26, 34, 42 OR 52 MILES
9:00am  Meet at Laid Back and relax with a cup of coffee or tea as you fill out paperwork and choose your bike and helmet.
9:30am  Plantation Tours/Mississippi River - Drive (or take transportation) to the tour starting point along the Mississippi River Levee Bike Path (or begin the tour at Laid Back for a 52 mile ride). Depending on where we start along the bike path, ride 10, 16 or 21 miles on the levee top which is between the Mississippi River and River Road to arrive at Destrehan Plantation.
12:00pm  Tour the Destrehan Plantation, a 1790 Creole plantation beautifully restored with period furnishings, outdoor kitchen, slave cabins and other out buildings. Also, see demonstrations of daily life activities of the early 1800's. If time permits and the group desires, we may also tour other nearby plantations, Ormond and/or LaBranche.
1:30pm  Lunch at a small town Destrehan or St. Rose restaurant.
2:30pm  Return to New Orleans by cycling back along the Mississippi River Levee with an optional stop near the end of the ride at the River Shack, a unique tavern along the Mississippi River Levee Bike Path.
5:00pm  Drive (or take transportation) back to your hotel or B & B.

ADDITIONAL PLANTATION TOURS INFORMATION
GUIDED TOUR: $110 per person. This price includes tour guide, rental of mountain bike, hybrid or recumbent, and transporting the bicycle to/from tour starting point.
SELF-GUIDED TOUR: $50 per person. This price includes tour maps, direction sheets with restroom stops, points of interest, suggested restaurants and the rental of an excellent quality mountain bike, hybrid or recumbent. If you want to do less than 52 miles, we may be able to arrange transportation for you and the bicycles from your ending point (see transportation).
TOUR DESTREHAN PLANTATION: $10 per person ($9 with a AAA card).
TOUR DATES: Self-guided tours are booked anytime. Guided tours of 3 or more persons are booked based availability.
LUNCH: Everyone pays for his/her own lunch. The group decides on which restaurant option.
TRANSPORTATION: If you don't have a car, we can contact a transportation company that will pick you up from a point along the tour route and bring you back to your hotel (available for groups of 3 or more). Depending on the tour length, the cost of this service is between $25 and $35 per person paid directly to the transportation company.
MISCELLANEOUS: All tour guides are licensed by the City of New Orleans. If we go to other plantations, Ormond is $5 p/p and LaBranche is $5 p/p.
CANCELLATIONS: No charge for a tour if canceled within 7 days. A cancellation fee of $35 p/p for a tour if canceled in less than 7 days. At our discretion, the cancellation fee can be applied toward a future tour. The full amount for the tour will be charged for a no show, no call.
